It is recommended that a manufacturers authorised service network be utilised for the servicing of ships machinery and equipment. Where there is no manufacturers authorised service station available or an Owner chooses to use another company, we recommend that Owners choose a company with relevant experience for the work required
Lifeboat launching and release gear, in accordance with the recommendations contained within IMO Circular MSC.1/Circ1206, survey & servicing should be carried out by properly trained personnel familiar with the system. Where a manufacturers service company is not available, then such personnel should have appropriate certification, e.g. a Certificate of Approval, issued by a Recognised Organisation in the above list, attesting to their experience in servicing lifeboat launching & release equipment.
For other equipment, expect in certain cases, we accept a Certificate of Approval or similarly entitled document from a Recognised Organisation in the above list as sufficient for companies, who are not part of a manufacturers authorised service network, whose main business is the servicing of ships machinery and equipment to carry-out servicing of equipment onboard ships
We will not issued a separate 'Approval' Certificate unless needed by the relevant International Convention
