Maritime Registrars

A network of Maritime Registrar Offices around the world assist the St. Kitts & Nevis International Ship registry in processing applications in Registering ships and other Registry services. They are allowed to issue pertinent documentation when authorised by the International Registrar of Shipping & Seamen so helping the ship owner avoid any delays. All applications are processed with a quick turnaround time.  

Special Agents

Special Agents for Shipping & Maritime Affairs are appointed by the Minister of Public Works, Utilities, Transport & Posts, according to section 446(4) of the Merchant Shipping Act No. 24 of 2002. They may be called upon by the Government to carry out various duties to do with the Government’s obligations, under International treaties, including IMO conventions, as duly authorised officials of the Government. Such duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • To board St. Kitts & Nevis Ships
  • To investigate marine casualties, including serious injury and deaths on board
  • To investigate and intervene in crew disputes
  • To open and close ‘log books’ & ‘crew articles’
  • To issue certification and other official documentation on behalf of the Government of St. Kitts & Nevis
